Gibson County American Red Cross

Mission:  The American red Cross is a humanitarian organization, led by volunteers, that provides relief to victims of disaster and helps people prevent, prepare for, and respond to emergencies.  It does this through services that are consistent with its congressional charter and the fundamental principles of the international Red Cross Movement.

 Local Red Cross Chapter founded in 1917.  Serving the community through disaster assistance, health and safety training, military and  youth services.

Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Evansville

Mission:  We strengthen individuals, families, and communities by assisting them in discovering and utilizing their gifts to achieve their goals and to serve the common good.

 Provides excellent, brief solution-focused, research-based, faith-friendly counseling for individuals, couples, families, and schools.  Proved the PEERS Project at Gibson Southern High School and Wood Memorial.  The PEERS Project teaches abstinence from drugs, alcohol, and sex in order for a student to attain their full potential.  Proved emergency financial assistance to people in need and the  Neighbor-to neighbor Program which is a financial literacy, personal development, faith-based program to help people improve their  lives.  Offer marriage preparation and marriage and family enrichment programs.

Gibson County Area Rehabilitation Center, Inc.

Mission:  To assist persons with disabilities to realize their goals of learning, living, and working in the community.  To provide advocacy and support systems for individuals addressed above and their families in obtaining programs and opportunities for growth and development.  To make efforts to advance the general public’s knowledge, understanding and acceptance of individuals with disabilities within the community.

  Provides integrated Day Care, training in employment, adult daily living skills, residential and independent living to assisted persons with disabilities live and work in their community.

Gibson County Council on Aging

Mission:  All services are provided without regard to education and economic needs of senior citizens.  The GCCOA serves as assessor of senior needs and is responsible for planning, coordinating and delivering a system of services for older Hoosiers.

 Provides programs and services for individuals in Gibson County that are 60+ and the disabled through transportation, home chore, and     senior activities.

Gibson County Court Appointed Special Advocate

Mission:  To ensure that the best interests of abused and neglected children are presented in court without regard to race, color, religion, sex, age, or national origin.  The office supports the development, growth and continuation of programs with recruit and training volunteers and staff to serve as CASA or Guardian at Litem.  The office promotes and supports quality representation for children to provide each child a safe, permanent, nurturing home.

  Proved a judge with a carefully researched background of the child to help the court make a sound decision about the child’s placement, and services offered to resolve the child abuse or neglect that occurred in their home.

Gibson County Youth Center

Mission:  To provide boys and girls alternatives for after-school activities in a safe supervised environment.  We will strive to develop programs and activities which will offer positive development and personal growth, enabling youth to acquire skills needed to grow into productive civic-minded responsible adults.

Provides after-school activities for children grades K-12 from October-March.  Children may participate in our homework study-station and    other youth games.
